The original idea of Z-Spot was born on January 8 2006, When 4 members of the Zarok admin team met
in Ghent. These were, in no particular order: Laz, Cybernavy, Brain and Jak. After the initial problems of finding
each other they set sail to “Café Baziel” near Ghent’s main train station.
With a drink in their hand they started working.
We decided to create a new community, loosely based on the Zarok ideals, but targeting a broader audience. The name? It originated in Laz’ mind and for the others the choice was obvious: the “Z” refers to Zarok and to the ideals we believe in.
Yet, there was still a lot of work to be done, Z-Spot wouldn’t even be possible without the support of Cybernavy and his friend from getonline.be. They really are our main sponsors, they give us the space we need. Cybernavy provides us with the gameservers (all running on our his own dedicated machine), while getonline.be provides us with webhosting.
Actual development started around February 2006 and soon we got the help of Jap and CrsH. But we can’t forget Zody and Zeon , they helped us a lot with the site too,
but had to give up because of a lack of time. Big thanks to them, for the work they have done and are doing still!
Highlander joined the server moderation teams for the cs and css server.
We are running our gameservers of our own dedicated server placed in the LCL Datacenter in Diegem, near Zaventem. Cybernavy provided us with the server. It’s an IBM server with Dual Xeon 3.2Ghz processors, 4Gb ECC memory and 2 73Gb 10k rpm hard disks in RAID1.
My Spot is our very own profile system. Every registered user has got his own page at Z-Spot. It contains personal info, contact info and the user’s favorite servers.
However we are still expanding the possibilities of My Spot. Check the homepage regularly for new features.
